What is Kaiut Yoga?
Kaiut yoga is designed to support our evolution as humans. In our modern day society, life can be most challenging for our emotional state. Generally speaking, we demand less from our bodies and more from our brains. We sit more, we work to maximize productivity, we have less time to relax, and we can find ourselves less present in our day to day lives.
While there are many styles of yoga, not all styles are designed to enhance longevity in a way that matches our current society. Kaiut Yoga is designed to prepare us for modern living. The entire purpose behind Kaiut Yoga is to live a better and longer life.
What does a typical Kaiut Yoga class look like?
It’s all about biomechanical health or freedom of movement. Kaiut Yoga has been designed to work through chronic pain & injuries, general aches & stiffness, and works for the inflexible, hyper flexible and the aging body.
Kaiut Yoga is taught at a slower pace to connect you to the natural rhythm inside the body. Poses are offered in a way where you can explore the sensations in your own body. It’s never about achieving a pose or looking a certain way. The poses are a guide to help you develop the connection to your body. The practice uses gravity in a specific way to allow the body to adapt without over demanding from the body. Because many of the poses takes place on the floor, we allow the body, specifically the joints, to read information in a way which connects the nervous system to the change that is happening. Kaiut Yoga is designed for all body types, all levels of experience, and can be modified to fit all conditions.
Come to your mat prepared to use the body as a tool to become more present. As we develop this skill we are able to evolve and support ourselves in our modern day lifestyles. The human mind has a natural need for a state of presence.
History of Kaiut Yoga
Kaiut Yoga was created by Francisco Kaiut, a chiropractor from Brazil. When Francisco was five he was accidentally shot in the hip. This traumatic event changed the course of his life and led him to explore various types of healing modalities. Francisco was dealing with chronic pain from this injury which fueled his desire to discover how to use the body to heal itself. He became a certified chiropractor and yoga master and has studied Cranial Sacral Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage Therapy as well as Polarity Theory in the UK. Francisco began to incorporate yoga into his chiropractic practice. It was while he was teaching yoga to his chiropractic patients that he envisioned the mats floating at the height of a chiropractic table. He realized the genius behind the poses and started to make the connection on how as humans we can use the poses as tools to support our body’s own healing process.
Francisco has been teaching yoga for the past 30 years. Francisco spends much of his time traveling the world teaching students and teachers to share the benefits of this modern method of yoga. Kaiut Yoga teacher training programs are now held in the US, Canada, and Europe.
